Employers
Key Benefits of NVQ's in the workplace:
-
Demonstrates a commitment to quality and investors in people.
-
Flexibility - the NVQ enables the assessment of competence to take place in the workplace.
-
Motivates people to improve and achieve recognised standards.
-
Encourages people to be pro-active.
-
In the Care Sector, the NVQ guarantees the requirements of the National
Minimum Standards and the CSCI (Commission of Social Care
Inspectorate) Regulations.
National Vocational Qualifications are based on national standards representing a benchmark for all organisations and individuals seeking to achieve quality performance in their respective sector. People who work in the sector have developed the standards and they know what skills the industry needs to maximise performance.
Most NVQ's are offered at different levels
-
Level 2 for those who hold some degree of responsibility.
-
Level 3 for those whose role is more of a supervisory nature.
-
Level 4 for higher-level staff, junior management and those with a deeper understanding of their role.
-
Level 5 for middle management.
Many local authorities are already using the NVQ to show their commitment to investors in people. The Government recognises the value of NVQ's and has made them mandatory in the Care Sector.
ITS and Leon Learning &
Development is working with Torbay Council and the Care Trust to help achieve their targets and address staff development issues.
